Manager Water & Wastewater

The Corporation of the Town of Tecumseh is currently recruiting for a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Manager Water & Wastewater. 

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director Public Works & Environmental Services, the Manager Water & Wastewater will supervise the operations and maintenance of the water distribution and wastewater collection, pumping stations to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable functioning. The Manager Water & Wastewater will administer and provide direction to assigned staff and contractors [i.e. Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA)] and consultants. In addition, the Manager Water & Wastewater is responsible for maintaining labour relations, researching and implementing appropriate technologies, preparing and evaluating policies and procedures. Other duties include: maintaining work and preventative maintenance records, participating in budget preparation and monitoring, long-term planning, addressing public inquires and customer billing issues.  This position is the Town’s designate Overall Responsible Operator (ORO) with the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MOECP). 

Qualifications and Requirements

The successful candidate will have a University Degree or College Diploma in Civil Engineering or Environmental Services, along with a minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years’ experience in municipal government in water and/or wastewater.  Candidates must have a minimum of a Class 2 Water Distribution Certification and a Class 1 Wastewater Certification from the MOECP, and be in good standing with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) or Ontario Association of Certified Engineers Technicians & Technologists (OACETT).  Candidates will have an understanding and experience in water and wastewater utility operations and the principles and practices of water and wastewater utility management, including strategic planning, budgeting and personal administration. The successful applicant will have a comprehensive knowledge of current applicable provincial local laws, rules and regulations regarding, water production, water distribution and wastewater collection system operation, maintenance, and construction, including but not limited to the Clean Water Act, Safe Drinking Water Act 2002, and Ontario Water Resources Act.

The Town offers an annual salary range of $99,534 - $116,441 (2019) per year.
