The Town of Tecumseh is currently recruiting for a progressive, dedicated, customer focused professional to fill the full-time position of Manager Facilities and Energy (MFE). 


Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Director Parks & Recreation Services, the MFE provides leadership and oversight of the Facilities and Energy Management programs. The position supports the strategic initiatives of the Department and develops/implements the business and work plans for areas including capital planning and projects with Life Cycle renewal, operations/maintenance of all Town recreational facilities (arena, pool, convention centre etc.), corporate buildings and property and has responsibility for the Town’s energy management initiatives. In addition to providing day to day supervision for unionized staff, the Manager will implement short- and long-term strategies in the areas of asset management, maintenance programs, building operations and energy management services while ensuring compliance with applicable facility construction legislation codes and guidelines for Town facilities. The MFE will prepare reports and recommendations to the Director for presentation to Council.


A collaborative and effective people leader, the MFE works within the Facilities and Energy team and with leaders across the Parks & Recreation Department to support linkages and enhance/ implement process improvements and customer service standards while delivering services that support safety, productivity, reliability, conservation and innovation.


Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants are required to have a university or college degree in Recreation, Facilities/Parks Management, Civil Engineering Technician diploma or similar qualification in a related field. Applicable professional designations in the field of facility management would be considered an asset. The preferred candidate should have at least five (5) years progressive experience in Facility management in a recreational setting. This would include leadership and direction of staff, capital asset management, construction management, facility maintenance and operations, energy management, and environmentally sustainable operations and services. Possession of Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certifications, valid Class G drivers license and experience with maintenance software systems, MS Office Suite and the internet are required.


The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability and knowledge of facility recreation/parks management, budget and project management, fostering community partnerships and an understanding of applicable legislation (Ontario Building Code, Construction Lien Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Technical Standards and Safety Authority, OHSA, etc.), regulations and guidelines used in the construction of municipal facilities. In addition, the candidate will have proven leadership skills, commitment to service/program delivery, strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure. Strong interpersonal, commitment to diversity and inclusion and excellent communication skills would round off the ideal candidate.

The salary range for this full time, non-union position is currently under review in accordance with the Town’s Salary Grid.  This position is non-union and is subject to an employment contract.
